Trio

Just a quick description for you. Bob placed me in a trio with Ji Hye Jung, and Juan Manuel. Both charming and talented. We are playing Takemitsu's Rain Tree, and I'm playing the vibraphone solo. We had our first rehearsal last night, and it was the most productive session I've ever had. We will make a great group. Lines of communication are open, and I can be my demanding self without making anybody cry. We've already read through 1/4 of the piece in a day. I can't wait until Bob comes on the weekend and gives us a masterclass. In other news, I move into my apartment in 10 days!

Apartment

Well thank goodness. I've been approved for a studio apartment directly over the road from Peabody! It's US$700 a month.... (yikes)It's not huge, but bigger than my 5 sqare metres in Tokyo, and it has a new kitchen and bathroom, and plenty of room for 1. I can move in on the 16th. This is a huge relief. IN Peabody news....I have my orchestral audition on Tuesday. It's a bit scary since my only practical experience is in Wind ensemble. But I can always change my name to Sergio and move to Mexico if it goes horribly wrong... ;)
